Purple heart wood is an excellent material for a cutting board. It is extremely dense and hard. I used an Amana 45982 bit for the juice groove. To cut out the board I used the IDC woodcraft bit called “The Beast”. This board is finished with Odie's Oil SuperDuper Everlasting Dark Oil, then finished with one final coat of Odie's Oil Dark. Total Boat 1:1 Epoxy Resin, black tint. I left it out on the Florida sun for several hours after finishing with Odie's and The colors all got darker and even more rich, Odie's and sun do your thing.
Beautiful work - love the attention to detail! I've struggled with stains and finishes in the past. I'll have to try out Odie's Oil on my next woodworking project - thanks for the tip!
