1- Use a 90 degree V-bit to engrave the text first.
2- Keeping the same zero location use a 1/8" Up-cut bit to cut the outline shape.
3- After sanding, apply stain all over.
4- Apply a heavy amount of stain in the v-carved lettering.
5- Wipe away the excess stain, but leave the sating in the lettering to give it a bold contrast.

I can't open this in Easel, it says it has not been shared. Would love to give it a try.

Sorry, should be unlocked now. Enjoy.

I have tried several time to cut this, and each time I get a message that there is nothing to cut with current settings. I have a 1/8 straight bit for rouging and a 90 deg V for finish can you sugest what I have done wrong.
Alan Teepe · November 26, 2018
I read that if you have Two-stage cut (fast & detail bits) turned ON it will give you that error. Use the second workpiece with outline only to cut and make sure two stage engraving is OFF. Use the third workpiece for engraving. If needed I can send you raw SVG file. Facebook contact @lycan004

I am a beginning. Please excuse my ignorance. Alan said; "I have a 1/8 straight bit for roughing and a 90 deg V to finish". What does this mean? Does it mean that you use a 1/8 to cut out the sign and a 90 deg v to cut our the names? Thank you
Thomas · December 17, 2018
Correct, the 1/8" spiral bit cuts the outline out and the 90 V-bit engraves the text. What you will do is square up your wood sheet and secure it. Do the text first with the V-bit. Next without removing the wood, install a 1/8 bit and be sure to select "Use Last XY Home" (this keeps the alignment).

I am beginning too. Please excuse my ignorance. Did you put another board under the work piece so you can't cut into the Inventables work board? If not, how to you prevent this from happening. thanks
Letha Garrison · December 08, 2019
No worries, the X-carve is designed for you to cut (a little bit) in to the Waste Board. The name waste board implies it's mean to be a replaceable sacrificial component. You can however use scrap wood as you mentioned. https://www.inventables.com/technologies/x-carve-1000mm-waste-board-kit--2

How or where do you turn two stage engraving on/off?
Letha Garrison · December 17, 2019
In between the "Bit" box and "Cut Settings" box there is a "+" (plus sign) box. Click on the plus sign box, it will activate now showing a "Detail Bit" box. You will use the detail bit as the second stage, Easel will automatically stop, let you change bits and then run again.
Steven Vasquez · December 17, 2019
Click on the "x" in the Detail bit box to close it (i.e. turn off).

It wont let me care the vbit part with basic Easel, says I have to have easel pro. Is that true? How can I carve the text without a vbit and not with PRO?
Shann Galuza · December 30, 2019
What font did you use?
Rock Bottom Woodworks · May 21, 2020
The font is part of Easel, it's called Lavanderia.
Steven Vasquez · May 25, 2020
Shann Galuza - If you click on Easel Pro and scroll to the bottom of the pop-up box you will see that you can activate 1 of the 4 days available each month to use Easel Pro for FREE.

I noticed you use a 1/16 bit for a detail bit on the cutout. My 1/16 bits won't cut through 1/2" material. It looks like it will cut fine with just the 1/8 bit. Am I missing something before I try cutting?
Donald Rawlins · February 06, 2021
Donald Rawlins - I made that file before easel pro and the detail bit options where available. Must have added itself to the file. Use the smallest dia. bit you have that will cut 1/2", usually a 1/8" dia. bit.

Is there a way that I can edit the "you me" text.I have already carved your original but I have had people asking for names. Thanks Jim Drennan
jim drennan · July 16, 2021
Jim Drennan - No because those are just "lines" unlike a text field. You would have to design a new logo from scratch.
Steven Vasquez · July 17, 2021
How can I change the you and me to names?
Rodney Simpson · August 09, 2022
Rodney - Only the v carve text inside is editable. The outline that says you and me can not be changed. You will need a graphic designer to create a new shape.
