General Information

This was a great project, I took your Joe Whittakers plans and shortened them up to make a more common size ring box, I then used a 3/8" round over router bit on the lid to give it a nice curve, and then engraved initials in the top with a small laser engraver.

I have tried to make several of these and I can't get them to fit together. I'm using your exact plans with a 1/8 straight bit. wonder what I am doing wrong.

Change the shape size on the ring side of the boxes interior non cut shape to 3.025' x 1.910" and you will have a perfect fit with no need to file.

Great project, made a box for my buddy out of purpleheart and it came out great. FYI, there's a couple extra points on one of the paths on an inside curve that could be removed, but it doesn't affect the fit or anything, just cause a little bobble in the inside corner.

How do you make the box for bigger say out of 3x3 and I’m wanting the box to be that big. I’m struggling to adjust and the carve out pieces disappear ??

Did you do the engraving after the box in the original?

Yes I used a small laser engraver, but you could use a fine v bit and do the same thing
