These coasters were designed to stack together loosely. Carve the "bottom" side of each coaster first, followed by the "pocket" in MDF/cheap wood. Finally screw the coaster bottom side down into the pocket and carve the "top". For an overview checkout the video I made https://youtu.be/reULNjA4FcY
