General Information

US Marine Corps Emblem.

Materials:

Hard Maple

Machine Type:

X-Carve Pro

Notes:

This was my first 3D carve on a piece of cherry. I used an Amana 46170-K to rough, then a 1/4 ball-nose, then a 1/8 ball-nose. Check out those cut numbers to see if they work for you. I cut it on an angle. Seemed low and slow, which is good for detail but painstakingly long. This cut was 8" did not cut the lettering as detailed as I had expected. Perhaps, I should have did a final finish with a 30 degree bit or cut it larger design on larger stock.. I am new to 3D, so I don't know the answers to that issue. Comments and advice are appreciated. Thank you friends. RT

I think you'd need to increase the size of the project or try and use a smaller ballnose bit for the finishing pass. I rarely run anything smaller than 1/8" so perhaps just increasing the size?
