This was made for a customer requesting the US Navy Officer's crest with the person's name at the bottom. I used 50 stars in a circle around the plaque.
Please share this project. Great gift for my brother...

could you please share this project? I tried opening it and it says it isnt shared publicly?
Louie Podunavac
Did you do this all in acrylic?
Alan G Miller
Sorry for the delayed response. This should be shareable now. The project is in pine, I use the acrylic material to show detail only.
Troy Brady
What Bit did you use?
Gordon Lewellen
Hey Gordon - I used a 90 degree V bit for everything except the cutout. I used a 1/4" spiral bit to cut the pocket and a 1/8" to cut out the insignia.
Troy Brady
Troy, love his crest. After Vietnam my door gunner enlist in the Navy and spent over 20 years retiring as a Captain and really want to make this for him. One of my questions, I say "one" because there might be more, how do I edit the name?
Duane Heda
Hi Duane - Glad you like it! I use Adobe Illustrator for my text, but you may be able to use Easel to curve your text.
Troy Brady
Apparently the whole file is locked and will not allow me to do any editing. Any chance of you unlocking it????
Duane Heda
Hmm... it doesn't appear to be locked on my end. Not sure what's happening.

No luck. I don't understand either. Guess I'll do more checking on my end end. But this the only file I seem to having trouble with. think I'll try another file from this site and see what happens.
Duane Heda
Found the problem Tony. The workpieces were locked. I clicked on the lock icon and no more problem!!!
Duane Heda
How do you edit the persons name??
Also, I routed and cut the crest and it came out perfect!!
Duane Heda
I don't think it can be edited in Easel. It was originally created in Illustrator and converted to an SVG file, then imported into Easel.
Troy Brady
I just now got it figured out. I went to Light Burn did the edit and exported it as a svg file and exported it to Easel. Doing a test run as I type this and looks good. Thanks for your time and help.
Duane Heda
My pleasure!

Troy, Nice job. I'm a retired CPO and new to XCarve. I have a couple of questions do you have this file set up for a Chief or Senior Chief ? That was my rank. I am try to use the file you shared and having a hell of a time with the letters.
Donald Cale
@Donald Cale - If you'll give me your email address, I'll send you a Senior Chief file you can use.

Is this made from two pieces, one on top of another, or is everything outside of the eagle carved lower?
Brad Sylvester
Hey Brad - It is made from 2 pieces. The top piece is about .7" thick and is inlayed about .25" into the bottom piece (1" thick).
Troy Brady
Great project
