Cute and easy baby rattle made from hard maple and walnut. Dowels are 1/4" birch. Be sure all supplies including glue and finish are safe for children. I rounded over the edge with a 1/8" round-over bit using a palm router. Finished with an all-natural, food-safe beeswax and mineral oil paste.

Great project! It looks beautiful. How did you get the dowel rod into the middle of the circle?

Simple! I used a drill with a 1/4" bit. I added another photo to show the back.
