Made the first time out of a 4x4 pine it worked out but be careful of feeds and speeds along with sap lines in the wood had the first one break due to the graining . The only reason I used pine 4x4 is because I wanted a large mounting surface to hit the studs in the ceiling and wanted it to be all one piece suggest making it into 2 pieces for easier hold down while cutting
