General Information

A simple bamboo dish with a corian base and cork inlay for grip. Use for candy, office supplies, or more. We used a combination of CAM software and EASEL to create a bowl shape.

1

Mill dish interior

Mill the Dish shape out of 3/4 inch material (Bamboo looks really good!) Use a ball nose bit for the best surface finish.

2

Cut dish profile

Change bits to a square endmill and cut out the shape of the dish.

This piece looks nice on its own and would make a nice finished dish.

3

Mill pocket into base

Use a square endmill bit to cut a recessed pocket into the base piece. This is to hold the cork pad.

4

Mill fillet onto base

Change the bit back to a ballnose and run this file to carve a round onto the base

5

Mill Cork inlay

Cut out a cork pad to attach to the base

Finish and Assembly

Sand the Bamboo dish for a smooth finish, apply your preferred oil or finish, and glue parts together.

This is neat but as I understand it, its not something you can really do by yourself in easel?

Hi Donavon, we used a CAD software and G-code importer for this. If you were using Easel and have many concentric shapes it would result in a similar look. It would require a bit of final sanding to get it smooth but we sanded ours as well.

Hello, I was wondering why the feed rate is so slow. I wasn't expecting it to be such a long carve given the plywood.

The Easel link in step 2 gives an error "This project has not been shared publicly" when opening.

What size bits are you using for this? 1/8"? 1/4?" Thanks.

What CAD and G-Code importer did you use?

Thank you for sharing these files with us :). Is it because you imported the gcode that I can not preview or simulate the carve? You also have it set for 1/8 bit on step one. Are the settings the same for a 1/8 ball nose?
