Plywood Monster Truck

Instructions

1

Getting Started

Prepare birch plywood to be carved and clamp workpiece down onto wasteboard. Begin carving parts.

Estimated time: 10 minutes

2

Glue Up

Glue up all pieces and clamp them together. A good trick I like is to add a bit of salt to the glue to keep the pieces from slipping while clamping. Let glue set over night.

Estimated time: 30 minutes

3

Sanding

After all pieces are glued together into one shape to form the body of the truck, sand any uneven spots from pieces shifting from clamping. If you took my advice and added a little salt, this step shouldn't take too long and the imperfections should be minimal.

Estimated time: 30 minutes

Tire Details

I like to use a drill press to create the look of a rim in the tires. I use a 1" forstner bit to create a 1/16" deep hole, the a 7/8" forstner bit to make another 1/16" hole in the center on the first one. This gives the tires some depth.

Estimated time: 30 minutes

5

Wheel Attachement

Glue one side of a 0.25" wooden dowel into the hole of one tired, then run dowel through the holes in the rises on the bottom of the truck body and repeat the glue up on the other side. repeat this for the other set of tires.

Estimated time: 30 minutes
