Custom Cabinet doors

First rip all your boards to 2" wide. I used poplar for my styles and rails because its cheap and I new the doors would be painted. next cross cut your styles (vertical pieces) to the exact length you need for your cabinet. next cross cut the rails to the width you need for your opening minus the width of two of your styles (4") plus the width of your tenon times 2 (3/4"X2) plus the width of your rabbit times 2 (3/8X2).

You could cut the rabbits before you cross cut all the lengths but I find it easier to manage if you cut the rabbits after you cut all the lengths. I cut my rabbits at 3/8" by 5/16" by first setting the blade height to 3/8" and setting the fence 5/16" and making the first pass on the boards edge. Then I laid the board on its flat and set the blade height to 5/16 and the fence to3/8" minus the blade thickness (just measured to the opposite side of the blade) and made the final pass.

I used a slot mortiser (learn more here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHSNXRMBJVP_iklOP5xsZexHojN4MBdfo ) to cut the mortises but you could easily do this by hogging out the material with a drill press and cleaning it up with a chisel.

this can easily be done buy marking the depth of the tenon on the end of the style. Then line up the edge of the rail with the mark. Then you can mark where each of the cheek lengths are.

I used the slot mortiser for this as well but you can cut the cheeks by using a table saw.

Glue the rails to the styles by clamping it with two camps a crossed the rails.

Download the easel file and load it onto easel. stretch the grill the size you need plus a 1/4". you can trim it the length on the tables saw after to ensure a perfect fit.

I used a really cheap door mirror. the width was actually already the right size so all I had to do was cut it to length. This can easily be done by marking the length, and then using a straight edge to score it across its length. it should just snap apart

Paint all your grills and frames.

I hot glued the mirror to the rabbit and used a piece of 1/8" hardboard for a backer. I then caulked the seems and added a couple of screws to hold it all together.Finally

Attach the doors to your cabinet using the hinges of your choice. I used hidden hinges which required me to drill two holes at 1 3/8" to house the hinge.
