Watch My Video and Make One!

In this video, I show how the project was designed in Easel and cut using the X-Carve.

Tools Used: X-Carve, Table Saw, Sanders, Clamps Supplies Used: 3/4" Lumber, 1/4" Plywood, Sandpaper, Wood Glue, Spray Lacquer

Estimated time: 110 minutes

Cut the Sides!

Use the Easel project at the link below to cut for identical sides from 3/4" lumber. The project is set up to to cut two at a time, but you could cut all four at once if your lumber is wide enough. Sand!

Note: I recommend you confirm the thickness of your lumber and make adjustments to the length of the finger joints as necessary. Also measure the thickness of the plywood that will be used for the bottom and adjust the width of the groove if necessary.

Estimated time: 110 minutes

Cut the Bottom!

Cut a 21.5" square piece of 1/4" plywood for the bottom. Sand!

Estimated time: 5 minutes

4

Assemble It!

Apply glue to the mating surfaces of the corner finger joints and assemble the serving tray. Apply clamps and clean up any glue squeeze out. Allow to dry.

Estimated time: 30 minutes

5

Finish It!

Finish sand the serving tray to soften any sharp edges and remove any tool marks. Apply your choice of finish. I recommend 4-5 coats of Deft Clear Wood Finish Satin Spray Lacquer.
