Design your own wall shelf

Watch a wall shelf drawn from scratch in Easel: outline the shelf and its supports, add the slots that join them, and set the cut depth for your sheet thickness.

Make space for tools, collections and everyday storage

Choose a shelf for what it needs to hold. Each maker shares a design you can open in Easel, with finished photos to help you picture your version.

A long dark wooden shelf holding books in a corner above a tiled wall 50 Inch Shelfby Kiera Malmin

50 Inch Shelf

A long shelf provides space for a row of books. Kiera’s pictured build has curved supports and an engraved back panel. The instructions link separate Easel files for the back and supports, the back detail and the top, and specify seven-sixteenths-inch stock. Use all three files and follow the stated order for the detail pass.

Test the minifigure pins before carving every shelf

Ray Macke tested the diameter and spacing of the two-millimeter-high pins until the figurines held firmly. He recommends several small test cuts before repeating the row across the display. The close fit is between the carved pins and the figures, so a shelf that looks right in the drawing still needs that physical fit test.
