Keep fine detail without running out of cutting length

Jules used a 1/16-inch fishtail bit for the octopus outline but found its cutting length short for half-inch Corian. A 1/8-inch bit can reach through the material more easily, though it will lose some of the small outline detail. Check both the cutter diameter and its usable cutting length when you adapt this design.

Build a deeper dish from two thinner pieces

Jules makes the arrow dish from two pieces of half-inch wood. After gluing them together, let the glue dry before sanding the seam smooth, then add the finish. Stacking a cut-out rim on a solid bottom is a different way to get depth than pocketing a thick blank.
