Match the holes already in your drawer

PR Smith starts with the distance between the existing screw holes: his drawers use 3-inch centers. Woodbrew drills 4-inch centers with a marking jig. Measure your own spacing first, then change the handle and hole positions together rather than choosing a size from the photo.

Leave the legs off while you fit the inlay

PR Smith fits each strip to its own pocket and marks the pair. With the legs still separate, the holes in the back let him push out a tight strip without prying at the patterned face. He glues the inlay before attaching the legs.

Round the grip before you drill and finish

Woodbrew rounds the carved edges with a router table or sandpaper, then sands and waxes the handles before marking the mounting holes. The curved outline gives you the shape; that extra rounding makes the part comfortable to hold.
