Measure the cutter before making an inlay

Seth Porter recommends measuring the cutter with calipers before generating the pocket and insert. A small difference from the listed diameter can change the fit. Enter the measured diameter before you create the matching parts.

Test the fit without seating the insert

John McWhirter advises checking a tight insert without pushing it all the way into the pocket before gluing. Once it is fully seated, it can be hard to remove. Sand off burrs first, check the fit, then add glue and press the insert evenly.
