Seal light wood before adding dyed epoxy

John Gifford recommends three coats of lacquer before applying dyed epoxy to porous or light-colored wood, so the color does not bleed into the grain. Let the epoxy cure before sanding it flush.

Reduce the load when pocketing oak

For an oak version, use smaller depth passes rather than removing the whole pocket depth at once. Matt Slaga’s build comment recommends reducing feeds and speeds for oak on an X-Carve Pro.
